DAS APOSTOLISCHE GLAUBENSBEKENNTNIS, DER GOTT ISRAELS UND DER JUDE JESUS VON NAZARETH
Abstract
Nach einführenden Überlegungen zu Bedeutung, Gebrauch und Entstehung des Apostolischen Glaubensbekenntnisses zeigt dieser Artikel zwei gravierende Mängel im Apostolikum auf und bietet konkrete Vorschläge zu dessen Ergänzung. Zum einen springt das Bekenntnis direkt von Gott, dem Schöpfer zur Geburt Jesu Christi ohne Gottes Offenbarungshandeln an und in Israel zu erwähnen. Damit stellt sich die Frage, wie konstitutiv dieses Handeln für das christliche Gottesverständnis und den christlichen Glauben ist und ob es nicht Teil eines christlichen Glaubensbekenntnisses sein müsste. Zum anderen werden im Apostolikum die jüdische Herkunft Jesu und sein Wirken, überhaupt und speziell sein Wirken in Israel, verschwiegen. Nach neutestamentlichem Zeugnis sind beide Aspekte wesentlicher Bestandteil des Evangeliums. Auch angesichts der verheerenden Wirkungsgeschichte des ersten Artikels ohne Israel und eines seiner jüdischen Identität beraubten Sohnes Gottes und Evangeliums sind Ergänzungen dringend erforderlich. After some preliminary notes on the significance, usage and origin of the Apostolic Creed, this article argues that there are two elements lacking in the Creed. (1) The Creed moves directly from God the creator to the incarnation of his Son Jesus Christ without giving any weight to God’s dealings with the nations and Israel between Genesis 3 and Matthew 1 as if it were of no significance. This raises the important question as to the role and importance of God’s revelation in history prior to the incarnation for Christian faith. (2) The Creed is also silent as to Jesus’ Jewish identity and his ministry in and primarily for Israel. Both aspects are essential in the New Testament presentation of the Gospel. Also view of the devastating consequences of excluding Israel and Jesus the Jew for Jewish-Christian relations in much of church history, additions are overdue.
