Abstract

Ecclesiology cannot be restricted merely to he interpretation of statemants - biblical, liturgical, theological and in the Catholic dispensation, magisterial - about the church but must rather, in addition, take cognizance of the fact that the church is a social reality constituted by the common consciousness of its members. To undestand the church one needs to understand her members - how they live, how they function and how they relate, for this makes them the Church.
