Abstract

Contributions to this volume have a certain ‘anthropological’ interest in common. Jüngel’s theses on the relationship between the Christian faith and democracy is of special relevance in the South African context, where there is a growing interest in the debate on these issues. Kinghorn analyses the relationship between racism and social order against the background of the study on inclusive democracy published by the Centre for Hermeneutics in Stellenbosch. The interrelatedness of the concept, incarnation and solidarity in contemporary Christological thinking is discussed by Bauckham, while Spangenberg contrasts the view of death in Qoheleth with what is to be found in the rest of the Old Testament.
