Abstract

Contributions in this issue concern issues in linguistics, literacy and ethics.  Simon Wong offers a valuable overview of how the understanding of the nature of New Testament Greek has changed from the 16th to the 19th century. Du Plooy explores the concept of the implied author, and how it can be used as a key to the value structure of the text. The last two contributions focus on New Testament ethics: Roberts gives an overview of recent developments in this field, discussing some of the main topics and adding a valuable bibliography; Grabe concludes this edition with a survey of the current debate on the relationships between the indicative and imperative in Pauline ethics
