PROBLEMATISING THE DEVELOPMENT OF SAME-SEX RHETORIC IN SELECTED REFORMED DENOMINATIONAL TRADITIONS IN SOUTH AFRICA
Abstract
If same-sex discourse is part of regulatory practices that both produce and control bodies, its development in the Dutch Reformed Church requires a genealogical enquiry into the discursive practices from which it has emerged. It is argued that the same-sex discourse which has developed within the Dutch Reformed Church serves to protect heteronormativity and biblical discourse, and integrated within regulatory practice, is instrumental in its accomplishment.Authors retain copyright and grant the Journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this Journal.
