Abstract

This paper describes aspects of traditional justice among the Gikuyu of Central Kenya. It seeks to demonstrate some of the ways in which the concept of kihooto as a moral principle guided and controlled traditional life, maintaining a morality that preserves the integrity of the individual and such social values as peace and harmony.
