VAN WERKLIKHEID TOT WERKLIKHEID: DIE INTERPRETASIE EN INTERKULTURELE KOMMUNUKASIE VAN NUWE TESTAMENTIESE WAARDES
Résumé
The aim of this essay is twofold, namely (a) to analyse the basic New Testament values, and (b) to investigate the possibilities and problems facing any legitimate effort to ‘translate’ and apply these values in a changing South Africa .A brief definition of values is first of all presented. The basic moral values of the first century Mediterranean world and the New Testament are then investigated from an anthropological perspective, and on a high level of abstraction. After describing typical Western values, a brief comparison between Mediterranean and Western values is undertaken. The outlines of a possible intercultural communication model is also presented which would allow for comparison between different cultures. General implications of New Testament values for the South African society in general, and for Biblical Studies in particular, conclude the essay.Téléchargements
