THE VALUE OF BIBLICAL STUDIES AS BACKGROUND SUBJECT FOR RELIGIOUS EDUCATION/BIBLE EDUCATIONA research project undertaken during 1983 to assess the present situation of Religious Education in primary schools, reveals that formal training in Biblical Studies is an important prerequisite for the successful teaching of Religious Education in primary schools. The article discusses several aspects involved, including reasons why the potential of qualified teachers is not fully realized. In conclusion, some recommendations are made, inter alia that more posts specifically for Religious Education should be advertised.Téléchargements
